Raising $100,000 to provide free healthcare to impoverished patients at
Nasir Hospital.

PURPOSE:

The Humanity First Nasir Hospital strengthens and expands Humanity First’s vision of providing medical services to underserved communities. Nasir Hospital provides equitable access to health care for Guatemalans, and the establishment of this hospital has allowed Humanity First to serve both the short-term and long-term health care needs of the local Guatemalan communities. Currently, 1,300 of patients per year are being seen that are considered in poverty, and this fundraiser aims to fully support these patients in need in receiving free healthcare at Nasir Hospital.

HOW ARE NEEDY PATIENTS IDENTIFIED AND HELPED:

Patients that arrive at Nasir Hospital who claim to be poor are interviewed and confirmed of their financial status by an approved social worker before receiving a subsidy on their medical bill. Currently, out-patient subsidies range from

$5-200 per patient while in-patient subsidies may amount up to $40,000 based on the patient’s situation. The funds raised through this Doctors for Humanity fundraiser will allow Nasir Hospital to fully cover needy patients for their treatments.
