Help urgently needed for Rohingya refugees

Rohingya Refugee Crisis

On August 25th, 2017 sectarian violence broke out in Rakhine State, Myanmar. Because of the violence families are being forced to flee their homes and walk for days to find safety across the border in Bangladesh.

Most of the Rohingya refugees are women and children. Many people have been injured and are exhausted as they arrive in makeshift camps in Bangladesh and are in desperate need of food, clean water and medical aid.

Most have walked for days, bringing with them harrowing stories of violence. Reports suggest that nearly 400,000 Rohingya refugees have fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar over the past few weeks, with numbers increasing every day. These refugees need life-saving assistance now. Many are without shelter or clean water.

Humanity First is actively working with its partners on the ground to ensure essential needs are met. With your help we can ensure that those in need are assisted as best possible.

Update Oct. 1st, 2017:

The work on the ground is making progress with our implementing partner Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and its volunteers working 24/7 to meet the needs of the refugees with a multi-sectoral approach.

So far work includes:

WASH Sector (Water Sanitation Hygiene):
Hand Pumps, Water Wells and Portable Toilets are being installed in the Kutupalong Camp for new arrivals. More installations are being planned for additional refugee camps.

HEALTH Sector:
An Emergency Medical Team (EMT) is providing relief to more than 300 refugees each day with dire medical needs in the camps.

FOOD SECURITY Sector:
So far, thousands of hot meals have been served and a full-time kitchen for more than 4,000 refugees will start operations on October 7th. This kitchen will serve food three times a day

CAMP MANAGEMENT:
The local authorities have assigned AMJ to manage a camp hosting several hundred refugees..

We urgently need your help to fund this vital work to purchase food, water, medical supplies, hand pumps, tube wells and portable toilets.
