Humanity First Disaster Relief Efforts In Indonesia

On September 28, 2018 a magnitude 7.4 earthquake followed by tsunami hit the island of Sulawesi affecting the city of Palu and Donggala and many other remote villages. So far, almost 2,000 people are confirmed dead and thousands are still missing.

What is Humanity First doing:

Humanity First Indonesia immediately started collaborating with local Humanity First volunteers on the island of Sulawesi to assess the situation. Despite limited resources on the island, our team setup a kitchen and started serving hundreds of hot meals daily.

Another team of twelve (12) disaster responders along with relief supplies arrived at the Island to support the local team of six (5). They have setup Base Camp at AMJ Centre in Bulupontu village, South of Palu providing medical and non-medical relief. Humanity First Disaster team is treating tens of medical cases every day in Bulupontu Jaya Village and Kalukubula Village.

In collaboration with Indonesia’s National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), Humanity First has also established a facility in the village of Pompewe which is refuge for five (5) other affected villages nearby.
