Iran Earthquake Relief

On December 26, 2003, Bam (an ancient city in Southern Iran) was hit by a deadly earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale and was turned to rubble. That earthquake killed more than 30,000 people, almost a quarter of the country’s population.

 

Humanity First Approach

Humanity First, USA immediately jumped into action to aid earthquake victims by raising funds in collaboration with Humanity First UK.

Results

  • Raised tens of thousands of dollars in urgent relief funds
  • Humanity First team members, including doctors and physicians immediately flew to Bam, Iran in order to provide relief services, supplies, food, temporary shelter and ambulance services

Since its inception and IRS registration in 2004, Humanity First has been focused on spending most of the raised funds on direct program related expenses. As a result, more than 90% of its funds are in that expense category. This is achieved through dedicated volunteers in its management, and program operation teams.
