West Africa Flood Relief
The early onset of seasonal rains in Africa caused severe flooding affecting 20 countries in a belt across central Africa from Senegal to Kenya. There were at least 270 dead and 600,000 left homeless as a result of these floods. Millions more face starvation and disease after catastrophic damage to local crops and clean water following the heaviest rains in three decades. The typical danger in these situations is the shortage of food and drinking water along with the threat of outbreak of waterborne diseases and malaria.
Humanity First Approach
Humanity First launched an immediate fundraising campaign for Africa Flood Relief fund to provide humanitarian assistance to the victims of disaster in collaboration with our sister Humanity First organization in Ghana.
As part of a human development program, Humanity First is in the process of setting up an IT Training Center in Tamale.
Donate to help provide relief for disasters such as the West African Floods.
Humanity First is registered in 43 countries across 6 continents, and has been working on human development projects and responding to disasters since 1994. These have included the earthquakes in Turkey, Pakistan, Japan and Iran, floods in Africa and Latin America, hurricanes (Katrina and Rita) , tornado's (Kansas) and wild fires (California) in the USA, Indonesia and Bangladesh, and conflicts in Eastern Europe.
Since its inception and IRS registration in 2004, Humanity First has been focused on spending most of the raised funds on direct program related expenses. As a result, more than 90% of its funds are in that expense category. This is achieved through dedicated volunteers in its management, and program operation teams.
