Humanity First USA Awarded NVIDIA Foundation's 2012 High Impact Grant
Humanity First USA was awarded NVIDIA Foundation's 2012 High Impact Grant in July 2012. NVIDIA Corporation is an American global technology company that creates graphic processing units and is based out of Santa Clara, California. Humanity First was one of four organizations to receive the $50,000 grant out of nearly 100 proposals.
This grant will support Water for Life operations in Ghana. The funds received will enable Humanity First to refurbish broken-down wells in over 100 impoverished communities in Ghana's Upper East region, and in turn, transform health, educational and economic opportunities for more than 30,000 individuals.
To date, through the Water for Life initiative, Humanity First USA has provided clean water to more than 200,000 people in Asia, Africa, and Central America, empowering them to be self-sufficient.
Humanity First is registered in 43 countries across 6 continents, and has been working on human development projects and responding to disasters since 1994. These have included the earthquakes in Turkey, Pakistan, Japan and Iran, floods in Africa and Latin America, hurricanes (Katrina and Rita) , tornado's (Kansas) and wild fires (California) in the USA, Indonesia and Bangladesh, and conflicts in Eastern Europe.
Since its inception and IRS registration in 2004, Humanity First has been focused on spending most of the raised funds on direct program related expenses. As a result, more than 90% of its funds are in that expense category. This is achieved through dedicated volunteers in its management, and program operation teams.
