Running for a cause - The New York City Marathon

A die-hard supporter of Humanity First, Fahim Malik, is preparing to take part in the upcoming New York City marathon.

Fahim Malik got into running so he could keep up with his growing son. A few years later he finds himself preparing for the longest run of his life: The New York City Marathon.

"I was never into running, but when I found that I didn't have the stamina to keep up with my son in Central Park, I decided to take up running to get into better shape", says Malik, a resident on New York City.

Over the course of a year he took part in several 5k and 10k races and qualified for the marathon.

But Malik wanted to do more than just run the race and finish. He wanted to raise awareness for Humanity First, an organization he has been involved with for 3 years. "Its an amazing organization with amazing people. You see the level of sacrifice of the volunteers, they give so generously of their money and time. That is inspiring", says Malik.

His goal is to raise $10,000 for the disaster relief and humanitarian organization by race day, November 7, 2010.
