A 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s western coastline on September 30 followed by another devastaing earthquaking measuring 6.6 on October 1, resulting in an estimated 1,100 deaths and leaving thousands of victims collapsed under wreckage of demolished buildings.  Sadly, the death toll following these destructive events is expected to rise.

Today, Humanity First Indonesia has dispatched an Assessment and First Response Team to begin relief efforts, the same team of volunteers who have supported Recovery Phase relief efforts following the Indonesian tsunami in 2004. Humanity First USA has committed to provide an initial $10,000 to support disaster relief efforts and is prepared to provide additional support as necessary.

Humanity First USA is launching an urgent appeal to assist victims of these Indonesian quakes. We call on the international community to respond with the promptness and generosity demanded by the desperate situation in Indonesia, where your funds will provide much-needed relief such as water, food, and shelter.
