Our Kids, Our Future: Chicago

Humanity First actively coordinates with an elementary school in Chicago to help elevate the reading, writing and mathematic scores of its students. Current activities include: bimonthly story-time where Volunteers from the Humanity First serve as interactive storytellers for each classroom of students. In that capacity, they encourage students to read, listen and understand books in a fun, educational manner. In addition, volunteers serve as mentors to individual students in a pen pal program designed to help improve student’s writing skills and encourage them to excel in specific projects. Lastly, Humanity First organized a social event in December for the pen-pals to meet and learn from each other. Humanity First is currently raising funds to purchase books, school supplies and other prizes as incentives for reading and writing.
